If you ever wondered if curating a beauty collection for a beauty brand you truly loved would be exciting, allow me to let you in on a secret: IT IS! The whole process of putting this selection together has been a joy. I’d already become a huge fan of many products from Goodal lineup over the past several months, so being handed the creative reigns to assemble a summer-themed box of products to share was so much fun!
I put a lot of thought into what I wanted for this collection. I also had a list of self-imposed standards that I wanted my collection to meet:
- I wanted a collection that directly and effectively addressed the skincare problems that come with the relentless summer heat: sun
damage, lost hydration, finding balance between feeling sweaty and oily while being outside and then feeling tight or dry after being in the air-conditioned indoors.
It was important to me that my selections be compatible with as many skin types as possible: dry, oily, combination, and everything in between
I wanted products that would enhancepeople’s current skincare routine rather than attempting to replacea wide variety of skincare regimens.
I needed the box to be a good value. Skincare is an investment, and I want people to get a great return on that spend in the form of
multiple, quality products.
I’m happy to report that I was easily able to meet all of the criteria in the process of putting together this collection! Here is what you’ll find in my Summer Savior box:
Goodal Waterest Fine Mist
A mist is a no-brainer for summer skincare, but I like this one in particular for a few reasons. For one thing, the mist itself is extremely refreshing — it comes out in a superfine spray, and contains just enough mint extract to make it feel cool on contact. Additionally, this Waterest Mist contains multiple fermented lotus extracts as well as green tea extract which, in addition to their sun-damage-fighting antioxidant content, both have the ability to help reduce excess oil production. And lastly but most importantly, this mist doesn’t just immediately evaporate once you’ve applied it. Although the mist is extremely light and refreshing, it has very tiny particles of plant-based oils suspended in the solution, which lock in the watery hydration and prevent skin from feeling parched.
Goodal Waterest Vital Sleeping Pack
Although skin can feel downright swampy outside, it tends to dry out when spending an extended amount of time in the dry, air-conditioned indoors (Why is it even called an air-conditioner? Can we all please start referring to it as an air-dryer?). This is where sleeping packs come to the rescue. The Waterest Vital Sleeping Pack is an especially great choice for summer. It has the same, refreshing, cooling properties as the mist - but it’s in the form of a light but luxuriously moisturizing gel-cream. This mask offers a burst of humectant moisture that keeps skin hydrated through the night, but doesn’t feel the least bit heavy, and absorbs to a smooth, non-sticky finish. The Vital Sleeping Pack features fermented lotus extract as a star ingredient, as well as saccharomyces ferment, and pumpkin ferment. It cools, moisturizes, and brightens - everything I want out of a nighttime summer moisturizer.
Goodal Mild Protect Natural Filter Sun Cream SPF50 PA+++
This is an obvious choice - of coursethere’s going to be a sunscreen in my Summer Savior Box. This is a great mineral sunscreen, which effectively protects against both UVB and UVA rays with none of the white cast effect that often comes with natural sunscreens. It doesn’t feel the least bit oily, wears extremely well under makeup, and is suitable for sensitive skin.
Clio Sunbelievable Perfect Sun Cream SPF50 PA+++
I’m a firm believer that there’s no such thing as too much sunscreen, so I’ve included two in my Summer Savior Box! Finding a sunscreen you like wearing enough that you’ll actually use it every day is key for the long-term prevention of sun damage. This Sunbelievable Perfect Sun Cream is a new offering from Clio has a lot of appeal because it doubles as a skintone correcting base makeup. In addition to the lasting UVB and UVA protection, this sunscreen helps keep makeup in place, which is a huge bonus when you’re sweating in the sun all day.
Soo Ae Snail Brightening and Moist Mask
There’s nothing I want more at the end of a hot summer day than to wash the grime off my face and put on a soothing, hydrating sheet mask! This particular sheet mask has a great ingredient list, which includes a ton of humectants such as collagen and hyaluronic acid, as well as soothing snail secretion filtrate and calming betaine, and one of my personal favorites: brightening niacinamide. It simultaneously calms and hydrates, and leaves my skin looking and feeling fresh.
